January 25, 2016

Well this week was truly special. Being able to hear from Elder Toris was a real honor! He had such an amazing spirit and we all really learned a lot from him. What really impressed me from my Preach My Gospel studying and from what he was saying was about the importance our planning and studying has. Basically is we study well we will be able to complete with our missionary purpose, but if not it can ruin everything!

It was amazing to see the knowledge that Elder Toris had of the scriptures. One day i hope to be able to see the scriptures with such a perspective and understanding.

With it being the last week of transfers we are pretty excited to see who is going to come to the zone. We are pretty sure that a lot of the companionships are going to be changed, but we will see what happens.

We went up to Tuxtla on friday and Saturday and it was super cold! I thought i was going to get frostbite! It was definitely a good 67 degrees.... I dont know how those people in Idaho do it (;

I love all of you and i hope you have a great week!

January 18, 2016 (Translated by Papi) and Original (Spanish)

Sorry for not writing last week, but the internet here wasn't working.

The zone is doing wel! We are having a few changes this week but we are excited for the change and anticipate the new experiences we are going to have.

This last week was a great learning experience. I am full of gratitude today for Heavenly Father's help with some difficult trials. When I was thinking I wouldn't be able to overcome these trials, He came and healed me. It's incredible how the Lord works.Without trials it would be impossible to progress so we are given these trials to make us stronger. I know that He will never give us a trial that we are unable to carry, as it says in First Corinthians 10:13 which says:

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

This week I read the history contained in Mosiah 24. This is when Alma and his people were captured by Amulon. They were trying to everything right! They were faithful to God, but even so, their trials became sore and heavy for them. I love how the responded, they never got angry, they weren't irritated and didn't forget their God, rather they always thought of Him. They knew that God had power and that is why they prayed with great fervor, "pouring out their hearts to Him". At last Heavenly Father did allow them to be freed and they remembered Him still. When they were saved they gave thanks unto God.

"And they gave thanks to God, yea, all their men and all their women and all their children that could speak lifted their voices in the praises of their God. (Mosiah 24:22)

This is how I feel this week. I give thanks to my God for the atonement, I give thanks to my King for his love, and I give thanks to my Teacher for teaching me these great lessons.

Thank you for everything you do, I love you!

This last week was a great learning experience.

3 January 2016

This week we were awakened to many fireworks! It was a good new years and we are all feeling excited to get started working this year. The zone is going well. We did some intercambios with the elders in Tapachula 1 and they are doing well. We are going to help them a lot so that they can work efficiently and effectively.

We were able to have 3 of our investigators come to church and they accepted a baptismal date for the 30th of January! The only thing that they need is permision from their mom, because they have all the assistances and lessons. Their names are Ana, Kayla y Nadia. They are all very bright and have a good spirit about them. We are going to pray a lot so that their mom gives them permision.

This week we are excited to be here in Tuxtla for the consejo de lideres. We always receive a lot of revelation and are excited to implemente all of the ideas we receive in Tapachula! Its pretty cold up here in Tuxtla too which is really nice!

My companion and i fasted so that we can understand the will of God and apply it with humility in our lives. It was a diferente focus we put in our fast, but i feel like it will help us a lot. Fasting is dificult here in the mission, but it is definitely worth it! There is much power behind this gospel principle.

Have a great week everyone!
