Week 16 Pics!

Week 16

This was a crazy week to say the least... Due to personal and family circumstances, my companion Elder Powell decided to go home. President and i have been battling for the last couple weeks to keep him here, but he ended up taking the flight home. I have been staying with my zone leaders and now i am with another elder, Elder Estrada until the zone leaders come back from a trip. I will not be getting my new companion for another 2 weeks in the next transfer. I know that the Lord has a plan for Elder Powell and i just pray that everything goes well.

Its still really hot here, but it should start raining more here pretty soon. The food is continually amazing and i havent been getting sick recently so thats good! Some other elders that i know have been sick since they got here! so i have truly been blessed to have not gotten any stomach infections!

We have a couple investigators that should be getting married this week and we will finally baptize them! I hope everything goes well and that we will be able to baptize them this Saturday! Their names are Jorge and Alva Luz (: I know that with enough faith it will happen. I invite all of you to watch the video "Gracias a que El Vive" which translates to "because he lives" i think.... you can find it on lds.org i think. It is truly amazing and helps us understand the atonement(: I am so thankful for our Savior Jesus Christ and everything that he did for us. I know with out a doubt that he came to this earth and willingly bore all our sins and gave up his life so that we may improve our lives each day and LIVE again. He lives. He loves us. Embrace the atonement and you will find ETERNAL happiness.

Well i hope everything is going well in the states! Any crazy wars going on? hows Obama doing? probably not very well.....haha well love you all!

Week 15!

I am starting to lose track of the weeks so I'm not really sure if it is week 15 or not - haha! This week we had the goal as a district to get the normas de excelencia o las normas secas ( excelencia-1 baptism, 140 contact, 21 lessons with investigator, 7 lessons with less active or recent convert and 4 investigators in sacrament meeting) (secas everything but without the baptism).

I'm proud to say that the whole district was able to do it! Vista Hermosa 1 and 2 were able to get the normas de excelencia and Xochimilco and Central were able to get normas secas!

To say the least it was a great week! The Lord blessed us all so much! We are going to keep up the work and keep improving our efforts to bring people back into the fold.

It started raining even more this week so I'm a little scared to see how the real rainy season looks like! haha

Week 14

I don't have much time to write this week, but the highlight of this week was seeing a couple of our old investigators come to church! They are progressing toward their marriage and baptism! Jorge and Alva Luz are their names. It rained twice this week a little bit which was definitely a relief from the heat! Its still not raining season though, that starts in a couple months.

I am doing well with my new companion Elder Powell and we are going to be looking a miracle this week and try to find a baptism for this week! I am so grateful for the Christ's atonement! I am studying it more in depth and it is truly a spiritually uplifting experience. Even if you know nothing about the atonement or if you know a lot about the atonement, I invite all of you to study the atonement in depth and your testimony in the gospel will strengthen immensely!
Love you all!

New Companion! - Elder Powell

Week 13

This week has been a lot different than the other weeks in my mission because i am with a new companion and we are both very new in the mission field. We are working hard even though we dont have much experience yet. My new companion is Elder Powell and he is from Idaho Falls. He is 20 years old and is definitely a diligent worker. I am trying to be a good example so that he can start off his mission well. I know that we will have a lot of success this transfer.

We had stake conference this week and all of the talks were very uplifting. Mostly every talk was based on families and marriage. In this world we need to continually strengthen our relationship with our family and make sure it is strong.

With all of the new ideas and beliefs being introduced into the world, the family is being attacked like never before. I encourage all of you to think about how you can strengthen your family and act upon your ideas!

The family is ordained of God and it should never be taken for granted. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is a perfect "manual" on how to have a unites and happy family. Be defenders of truth and good wherever you go.

Love you all!

Week 12

Well this week has been really crazy and i dont have much time to write about it! :( But to sum it up, we worked like crazy, there were 3 baptisms in the district and we got to hear the words of a living day apostle, Elder Oaks. His words were amazing and definitely inspired! He basically just gave us a lot of tips about how we can improve our effectiveness in the missionary field! The spirit was so strong i could barely breath... I got to shake his hand!!!! Anyways, i have to travel up to Tuxtla again today because i am going to train a new missionary!!! The Lord is really blessing me with big opportunities to learn and serve! I am going to teach this guy everything that i know and try to help him start out strong! I am pretty nervous, but we will see what happens.

I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the restored church of jesus christ. He is at the head of the church and i know that Thomas S Monson is a prophet of god and the 12 apostles are also special witnesses of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all!
